FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQs

1. How much do your puppies cost?

My puppies are all raised the same and are all looked at with equal value. Therefore, all of my puppies are priced the same. The price of the puppies varies between litters as it depends on the cost of vet bills, stud fees, and the number of puppies in the litter. Puppies will typically be around $2000.

2. What is Puppy Culture and what training will my new puppy have before coming home?

Puppy Culture is a set protocol that has been proven to create excellent adult dogs. It all starts with a solid foundation when the puppies are days old. A puppy is born with certain genetics, and it is up to us to make the best of them! Your new puppy will come home with a good background in potty training, clicker training, and crate training. 3. What do I need to bring to pick up my new puppy? What does he/she come with?

What your puppy comes with:

All puppies go home with a take home kit consisting of a small bag of puppy food, folder with vet records/general info, a clicker, and a Snuggle Puppy gift box.

When you come to pick your puppy up you will need:
1. A crate/cage unless you plan on having them sit in your lap
2. Collar and a Leash
3. Remaining amount of money for your puppy

4. What is the difference between the Aussiedoodle and other doodles?

Surprisingly there are quite a few differences between the breeds. The most noticeable difference is the coloring. Aussiedoodles have a larger variety of colors than they typical golden, white, brown, and black. They come in merles, tri’s, bi’s, blue eyes, two different colored eyes, parti, and solids. An Australian Shepherd coat goes well with that of a poodle; and aussiedoodles tend to be less shedding and more hypoallergenic than other doodles. Aussiedoodles also are more energetic. They should be physically active on a daily basis and love to go on walks, hikes, bike rides, swimming, fetch, dog parks, and other fun activities. However, they are cuddly and are always down for a good snuggle. Aussiedoodles typically don’t do well with living in an apartment unless the family is active and takes the dog for walks daily. Aussiedoodles are nicknamed as the Einstein breed, and typically learn faster than your other doodles. They are more coordinated and can learn a lot of fun and unique tricks such as agility or walking like a human on their two back legs. Aussiedoodles tend to have a more spunky and funny personality, and they know it. Aussiedoodles are a very loyal breed, and want to be involved in it all, making them excellent family pets.

5. Do you have a Spay/Neuter Contract?

I require all of my puppies to Spayed /Neutered or have an appointment before they are 14 months old. I require proof from a licensed veterinarian when the surgery takes place or an additional amount equal to the purchase price of your puppy will be charged. I will sell my puppies with breeding rights to approved breeding programs or homes, at an additional cost.

6. When do puppies go home? And are visitors allowed?

Puppies go home around at 8-9 weeks after they are born, depending on their development. A puppy needs the guidance from their mother and interaction with their litter mates to be well rounded family puppies. Visitors are definitely welcome, and actually encouraged! Visitors are allowed after all of the puppies eyes and ears have opened, at about 3 weeks. Their true personalities and colors aren't visible yet, so I recommend waiting until they are about five weeks of age. If you are on my waiting list, puppies are chosen before they are six weeks old. Due to Parvo, Rabies, and other contagious diseases, I ask that the families visiting have clean clothes on and don’t stop at pet stores, dog parks, or other places contagious dogs could be. I will also ask you to take off your shoes and wash your hands before going into the puppy’s area. Puppies don’t have a full immune system until they are 16 weeks old; one contagious puppy can spread it to the whole litter.

7. Before committing, am I able to meet the parents?

You are welcome to stop by and meet the parents of my puppies before placing your name on the waiting list. Since I work hard in finding the best studs, occasionally, I stud out to other breeders. These dads are not always local, but I have personally met them and make sure they have quality temperaments and genetics prior to breeding. I also have several dogs in guardian homes, so coordinating a time for all parties to meet may be difficult. You are always welcome to come meet the resident aussiedoodles and see what Old Mills is all about!

8. What is your favorite thing about the Aussiedoodle?

Everything!! …but you knew that:) I like the fact that they don’t shed, but what I love is their temperaments. They tend to want to be doing whatever you are doing. If you are feeling active, they are ready to go on a long run. Or if you are lazy, they are content with laying on the couch watching movies! Message me with questions about them, I love talking aussiedoodles!!
